Karina is a bilingual artist and multi-instrumentalist from Houston, TX, currently based in Los Angeles, CA. Renowned for her stunning whistle notes, Spanglish lyrics, and captivating stage presence, she blends Latin and pop influences to create vibrant, heartfelt music.
Growing up in a Panamanian-American household, Karina was immersed in both Latin and American pop, shaping her distinctive sound. Her accolades include being a finalist in the Grammy U Songwriter Showcase, Glenn Miller Scholarship, and USA Songwriting Competition, as well as a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting and Unsigned Only Competitions.
As an artist, songwriter, and vocal producer, Karina is deeply involved in every step of the creative process. Her powerful performances have included singing the national anthem at an LA Clippers game at Crypto Arena, appearing on Mañana Latina from Vision Latina TV Network, and performing live on the Wish Bus USA radio show in Hollywood. She has also been interviewed on LATV’s LatiNation TV about her artistry.
Karina’s music has garnered attention on prominent platforms, featuring in Spotify Editorial Playlists such as New Music Friday Latin, Fresh Finds Latin, and the official Grammys Music Playlist. Recently, she completed a significant 10-song custom project with ESPN Music, showcasing her ability to write and arrange compelling tracks alongside her creative team.
Additionally, Karina participated in a mentorship program with the Recording Academy, which led to her distinction as a Grammy Voting Member.
As a cum laude graduate of music from Belmont University, Karina had the privilege of performing with the Belmont Chorale alongside acclaimed artists such as Sheryl Crow, CeCe Winans, Michael W. Smith, and The Tenors, with performances televised on PBS. During her time in Nashville, she recorded as a demo singer and artist at legendary studios, including Ocean Way and Columbia Studios. In addition to her recording work, Karina lent her vocal talents as a background singer for various artists at the House of Blues and showcased her versatility by performing classical arias by emerging composers.
Her dynamic performances have graced a variety of esteemed venues and festivals, including SoFar Sounds, Next Fest LA—the largest independent artist festival in the USA—The Jackalope Austin during SXSW week, The Hotel Café, LA County Fair, Soho House LA, The Mint LA, Hotel Ziggy, Adults Only Bar, Opry Mills, Knucklehead Hollywood, BFE Rock Club, Pane e Vino Katy, Hasta La Pasta, and SkyBar at the Mondrian Hotel West Hollywood. Karina has made a significant impact on social media, with her TikTok and YouTube shorts. She has also gained a following of over 15,000 followers on BandLab, where she has established herself as an influencer in the music community. Additionally, she is an actor and model, having modeled once for RLC Ragaza LC Models.
